I am a member of the American Electrology Association as well as the Maine Association of Electrologists. I use sterile disposable probes, offer day and evening appointments, and have over 30 years of experience.

Our services are recommended by physicians in the local area. The FDA classifies our machine as a class 1 medical device, recognition of its safety and effectiveness. A large number of our patients are referred directly by their family physician or medical specialist.

FELICE B. MANTHORNE, R. E. in her office on North Street in Saco.

If you have unwanted hair, Felice Manthorne would like you to keep a few things in mind:

•Electrolysis is the only method of permanent hair removal, as endorsed by the FDA.

•Electrolysis gives immediate results which you can see after your first treatment.

•Electrolysis works on everyone.
“There are other methods to remove hair,” Felice said recently in her office at 15 North St. in Saco. “Shaving, waxing and tweezing are all temporary. Electrolysis is the proven method of permanent hair removal.”

If you’re considering electrolysis, it’s important to visit an expert. Felice has over 30 years of experience as a Certified Registered Electrologist, including over 19 years in the Biddeford-Saco area.

She is licensed in both Maine and Massachusetts and uses the highest standard of sterilization with disposable probes and gloves.

Most people don’t know much about electrolysis before they go to have the work done. Because of this, Felice spends time explaining the process.

How is electrolysis is done?
“A very fine sterile probe, no larger than the size of a hair is inserted into the follicle opening. A current is then transmitted to break down and ultimately destroy the cells in each active hair follicle. Once the cells are destroyed, the hair follicle can no longer produce a hair. This unique process results in the permanent removal of unwanted hair.”

Does it hurt?
“Some say it doesn’t and others find it no worse than tweezing your eyebrows. Most people find it comfortable enough to follow through with the treatments."

How long does it take to work?
“That’s impossible to know. There is a wide range of hair growth and it can depend on heredity and hormonal factors. With some people, it works quickly and with others, it takes longer and more treatments are required.

How much does it cost?
“Prices are affordable. I offer free consultations to everyone to help them determine if they would like to try electrolysis. I’ve worked with many people over the years and I know how relieved they can be when the hair is gone forever.”

Can it be used anywhere on the body?
“Yes. The upper lip, the chin and the bikini line are the most popular areas, but it can also work on the underarm, abdomen legs, breasts or hairline. If you have been shaving, you do not have to grow your hair longer for electrolysis — the hair only has to be long enough to break the surface of the skin.”

A lot of people tell Felice they wish they had tried electrolysis sooner. “It’s like a great weight has been lifted off their shoulders when they don’t have to worry about their hair any longer,” she says.
